Welcome to Classes 3W & 3T
Our class 3 teachers are Miss Wilkinson and Mr Turnbull.
Across the year children will be learning about the following exciting topics:
* Mighty Metals
* Gods and Mortals
* Light and Sound
Further information about or topics can be found in our curriculum section.
Every half term, children will receive a homework sheet with ideas of tasks for them to complete at home. All of the tasks are related to their current topic and we encourage children to be creative and come up with their own ideas as well. Children are given an opportunity to share their work every week and Miss Wilkinson and Mr Turnbull love to see what they have been up to. (We are especially looking forward to Scrumdiddlyumptious!) If your child loses their sheet, they can get another from Miss Wilkinson or Mr Turnbull. Homework is handed in every Monday and given back out every Wednesday.
The tasks can be done in any order and children can complete as many as they like each week. Children who complete 6 or more tasks will take part in a treat afternoon at the end of half term.

Every day, Year 3 have 10 minutes of reading for pleasure where they can read independently or with an adult from a choice of books. Both classrooms have a reading area and enjoy shared reading regularly through a class text. We highly promote reading and appreciate the time parents and carers take are home to read during their busy schedule. Reading is extremely important for children’s progress and we ask that they try to read at home three times each week. All children who read at home three times receive an extra break the following week.
Children are given opportunities to practise spelling daily. They are taught spelling patterns and the meaning of new vocabulary and given tasks to support their learning. Children may also be given individual spelling targets and we encourage them to be able to say their spellings aloud using the letter names (they also love this challenge!) If your Year 3 teacher thinks that children need extra practise on some spellings, a practise sheet will be sent home although this is not always necessary.
Year 3 have PE every Monday and Friday afternoon. PE kits will be sent home every term but can be sent home more often on request. If children have been taking part in outdoor PE or more vigorous activity, PE kits may be sent home more often.
