We are promoting reading within our classrooms and our new reading corners should encourage children to want to read even more. We really appreciate the time and effort that parents and carers take to support their children to learn to read and ask that you continue to hear them read at least three times a week. We know that in year 6 some children are competent readers but sharing books together, talking about the characters and the story is still a lovely way to spend time together and is so important to ensure our children grow to be lifelong readers. Please continue to sign their reading record to confirm they have read at home.
For your information – PE lessons are every Monday and Wednesday. Pupils will need to ensure they have appropriate footwear on these days.
In Miss Petterson’s class, homework is given out on a Wednesday and returned the following Monday. The homework changes every week with the main focus of reading or maths. In addition to a worksheet, children will also receive spellings to practise at home ready for a spelling test on Monday.
1st 2nd and 3rd prizes are awarded every half term for the pupils who hand the most homework in and those who have read the most at home.
