Anti-Social Behaviour Talk – 23rd June

On Thursday 23rd June we had a visit from the local police. They came to talk to us about anti-social behaviour.

We discussed what anti-social behaviour is and the consequences of being involved in such activities.

Should we be arrested, we could end up going to a young offenders institution. The police explained to us about what sort of things we could expect in a young offenders institution. It didn’t sound like a nice place to be. We looked at pictures of a range of events and discussed whether they were illegal or not. We looked at pictures of activities ranging from a youth keying a car to someone setting a property on fire.

We discussed how these activities can affect the person whose property it is and the consequences they may face. If we are caught putting graffiti on peoples property we could be made to scrub it off.  People making excessive amounts of noise is classed as anti-social behaviour.

There are different types of anti-social behaviour. These include criminal damage, arson, noise nuisance, throwing stuff, graffiti, large groups hanging around the streets, littering and under age drinking.

The consequences of being involved with anti-social behaviour are a fixed penalty notice, lose friends, get arrested, guilt, a criminal record, disappointment from family members, ban from certain areas and potentially imprisonment.
