D and T Can I make a healthy sandwich? To use my skills to make a healthy sandwich. Last week you designed your own sandwich thinking about healthy eating.

This week we are asking you to make your sandwich. You could then taste test it and write a review.

Once you have taste tested your sandwich, complete the attached evaluation.

You will need to have all of the items for your sandwich making at home. If you don’t have them in at the beginning of the week perhaps you can do this activity at the end of the week.
PSHCE How can I control my emotions during lockdown? To recognise my emotions and how to deal with them. Here we are in another lockdown. It can be a tricky time for some people or some people are really enjoying spending all their time at home. You may be enjoying doing all of your school work at home or you may just be desperate to come back and see Mrs Thomas, Mrs Bostock and all the other wonderful people here in school. We miss you all too.

Today we would like you to think about if you have any worries. We can use different techniques in order to help us with our worries.

•          What can you think about instead of your worry?

•          What could you do to occupy yourself instead of worrying?

When anyone worries about something it can be really helpful to take your mind off the worry and think or do something else. It is amazing how powerful this simple tool is.

Later on you may even forget the worry or that worry doesn’t seem quite so big now.

Complete the activity about what you could think about or what you could do.

PSHCE dealing with my worries.

Wider learning

Below are some tasks linked to your Cornerstones topic I am Warrior.

D and T History History D and T
Task Follow a recipe for the staple food of a poor Roman family. Make simple porridge or bread, following original recipes. Compare this food with the foods of the rich. Who would you rather be? Why?

Note: Poor Romans ate bread, vegetable soup, and porridge. Meat was a luxury, unless they lived in the countryside and could go hunting or fishing.

Find out about the everyday life of a Roman child, using the websites given below or using any other sources you may have about Romans. Find out about homes, clothes, schools, entertainment, religion and meal times.

Create your own information book about the Romans.

Spend time identifying the use of Roman numerals in modern life. Where might you have seen Roman numerals used? Take turns with someone at home to write the date in Roman numeral. Tell the time from a Roman numerals clock.

You could also use Roman numerals to record your birthdays, do sums.

Look at images on the Roman design PDF which is available on the website. Sort these items into two groups: Roman and non-Roman origins.

Write an explanation about why you think they are Roman design or not.

What surprised you?

How can we check if our judgements are correct or not?
